Fitting out and decorating a basement: home cinema and family room

Fitting out and decorating a basement: home cinema and family room

The objectives

After moving into their new house, Mr and Mrs B contacted our agency to fit out a large empty room in the basement. The room was cold and impersonal, and they wanted a space where the family could get together.

Our solutions

Given the size of the room, we decided to divide it into two zones: a home cinema area and a library and board games area.

The first step was to lay LVT flooring in a natural oak effect to warm up the floor. Then we repainted the main wall in a luminous blue, which was an immediate choice, to bring cheerfulness and depth to the room.

Our decorating scheme was inspired by English clubs, with a family table and benches, which we renovated with comfortable, colourful furniture in a palette of blue and curry yellow.

On the home cinema side, a large, comfortable velvet corner sofa, club armchairs and nest of nest of tables with a copper finish and a large, soft carpet invite you to relax.

At the opposite end of the room, we created a large bookcase covering the entire wall to house the family’s many books. The furniture was made in medium wood and then painted with light oak niche inserts.

The stylistic note

A refurbished, colourful and user-friendly basement!
