Rejuvenation of a 1900s villa in Orgeval, Yvelines

Interior design and decoration for a 400 m2 villa in the Yvelines department

The objectives

Located in a charming town west of Paris, this classic 1900s villa had not been renovated for 30 years. The new owners had lived in Scandinavia before buying the house, so they wanted a bright, contemporary and minimalistic design that respected the house’s 1900 soul.

Our solutions

Our brief was to completely renovate the house to make it more functional and comfortable for a family with three young children.

The ground floor is made up of reception rooms, a lounge/dining room, a library and a large open-plan kitchen with a veranda, which we fitted with underfloor heating and a large wooden table for everyday meals and dinners with friends. We chose imitation wood herringbone tiling for the kitchen and veranda for the warmth that enhances the white furniture.

The first floor is reserved for adults, with a large master suite, a guest bedroom with bathroom and a study. We chose high end finishes, with Cole&son wallpaper for the headboard wall and a thick carpet for the bedroom floor. The bathroom was finished in marble with an island bath, a large walk-in shower and a large vanity unit with integrated dressing table. The chandelier and double silk curtains add a touch of sophistication.

The top floor is the children’s area, with three bedrooms, a bathroom and a large games/multimedia room. The latter, with a surface area of 30 m², has been given a 100% Scandinavian feel, with woollen carpets, light wood furniture and touches of fresh colour on the textiles.

The stylistic note

Une villa classique aux accents scandinaves où il fait bon vivre.
